FERRIT core coils
Ferrite cores are sintered from a metal-plastic powder. The ferrite material HP3616 used by Mundorf, Germany, differs significantly from the widely used, inexpensive Far East cores. It is characterized by low fundamental distortions and fast reversibility (= change of field direction). The music signal is hardly delayed, so that ferrite core coils can be used excellently in correction elements (as so-called equalizer coils) and in the midrange.
HP3616 is the only Mundorf-tested ferrite material to date that meets the stringent requirements for load-bearing capacity and distortion, so that they are even suitable for use in the mid-bass and bass ranges with low amplifier power.
