Hobby HiFi Heft 4/2017 Chassis Test Conclusion:
Tang Band W3-315: Perfect wide bands for near field use. The W3-315 by Tang Band convinces in all sound relevant disciplines - a perfect broadband for near field applications.
Excellent test in HH 06-2013:
Blue Planet Acoustic presents the W3-315E, another three-inch wide band from the Taiwanese manufacturer Tang Band. This has a probably uniquely extensive range of small broadband speaker chassis. Already fifteen of these three-inch caliber chassis went through the HDBBY hi-fi test track (see market overview on page 55). Despite its low price, the W3-315E offers a rock-solid cast basket with rear ventilation for theCentering spider, a stable aluminum alloy light alloy membrane and a voluminous magnet system that just just fits through the baffle cutout for the chassis. When using loudspeaker cables with a very large cross section, even a notch on the circumference of the cutout may be required to use the chassis. The powerful magnet leads to a pleasingly low resonance quality of 0.5, ideal for bass reflex use. Since at the same time the resonance frequency with 90 Hertz fails pleasingly low, this chassis achieves a remarkably deep as well as balanced and linear bass tuning: it almost reaches 50 Hertz at full level. He delivers so respectable low bass, and that just outa good three liters housing volume - compliment
At best, compromises have to be made in terms of level stability, because with a millimeter overhang of the voice coil via the magnetic air gap, the linear stroke of the diaphragm is not exactly lush. For the Nahfeldeinsatz on the desk brings the W3-315 but always with more than sufficient dynamic reserves.
Applause also deserves the particularly low-loss mechanics of this famous chassis: With 0.2 kg / s, this achieves the best value of the test field for the mechanical loss resistance.
Up to ten kilohertz, the light-weight membrane of the Tang band sent a fantastically linear and balanced frequency response to our measuring microphone. In the top octave, between ten and 20 kilosKilohertz, she showed a strong brilliance exaggeration. By means of a blocking circuit, such a phenomenon can be eliminated easily. By dosing the effect of such a correction filter, it is even possible to make a sensitive adjustment of the tonal tuning with respect to peculiarities of the room acoustics, the Tonkonserve or the auditorium.
Conclusion: The W3-315E by Tang Band convinces in all relevant disciplines - a perfect broadband for near field applications.
- 3 inches (7.62cm) full range speaker
- Aluminum / magnesium membrane
- Santoprene beading
- Voice coil carrier aUS Kapton
- Aluminum die-cast basket
The W3-315 is characterized by a clear treble range and füfor the size of 3 "a dry and precise bass range.
The price-performance ratio is simply unbeatable.
A very clear recommendation from blue planet acoustic in this price range.
