And it is the Alpair 7 that would astonish even the experienced loudspeaker designer, dealer, and hobby builder. In a simple and yet nonetheless extremely effective bass reflex cabinet with mere minor frequency response corrections (a tip of the hat to living room friendly design) resulted in a compact speaker that is purely fascinating. The speaker shines with its precise bass, naturally homogenous mid range and brilliantly refined highs. Hörtest (Klang und Ton): Also haben wir wieder einmal unsere Symasyms angeworfen, die mit den Hi-Spirits eine packende und hochdynamische Kombination bildeten. Die gegenüber beispielsweise einer Spirit 6 deutlich gewachsene Membranfl äche zeigt dann auch ihre Wirkung: Die Hi- Spirit kommt viel tiefer in den Basskeller und tut dies mit einer gelassenen Souveränität, die schon richtig beeindruckt. Bässe wirken sauber, weder drückend noch zu trocken – eben wie richtige Tieftöner alter Schule. Und natürlich sind zwei Zwanziger in einem großen Gehäuse zu ordentlich Dynamik fähig – wenn bei Orchesterstücken der Pauker seine Schlägel herausholt, dann zeigt die Hi-Spirit auch einmal, wo der Hammer hängt. Insofern ist es ein cleverer Schachzug gewesen, den Omnes MW 6W als Mitteltöner einzusetzen, der sich in Sachen Dynamik nicht hinter dem MW 8W verstecken muss. Aufgrund der konstruktiven Ähnlichkeit und des identischen Membranmaterials schließt sich der von der Last des Tieftons befreite Siebzehner nahtlos an den fulminanten Bass an und macht seinerseits richtig Druck. Auf der anderen Seite kann er mit seiner leichten Papiermembran so subtil und feinsinnig zu Werk gehen, dass man sich an einen sehr guten Breitbänder erinnert fühlt – so mögen wir das. Dass die hervorragende Keramikkalotte dem Ganzen noch das Sahnehäubchen aufsetzt, versteht sich nach den bisher gemachten Hörerfahrungen von selbst. Sehr echt, sehr detailliert und differenziert zeigt sie sich im Hochtonbereich und beweist damit eindrucksvoll, dass sie sich auch in sehr ambitionierten Projekten pudelwohl fühlt. Trotz der Größe und der auf drei Wege verteilten vier Chassis spielt die Hi-Spirit tonal wie räumlich wie aus einem Guss und untermauert damit eindrucksvoll, dass sich auch mit einem recht bescheidenen Etat hochwertige Großprojekte realisieren lassen.

Our starter kit from Markaudio. We put the woofer no 6 in a TQWT (Mass Loaded Tapered Quarter Wave Tube) for maximum bass reproduction. The woofer is one of the highlights we tested this year. It looks regular but produces such a deep and clear bass you normally expect from a much more expensive woofer. The tweeter fits exactly in the picture. Bravo, Mark... First woofer, first tweeter and both are winners.... This kit plays in the 2000 Euro price range of finished speakers.

The AP 10 Monitor, is our effort to satisfy the demands for a compact full range monitor with the largest full range speaker from the Markaudio Alpair series.
